A fraud is someone who isn't who they claim to be, or in this case, who everyone else claims they are. Everyone seems to think BSD is this championship level fighter and I don't think he is. Is he good? Absolutely. But I don't think he's on that level. We'll see come Saturday.

BSD is young in his career. Dustin Poirier is a legendary lightweight. If BSD loses Saturday, he still could become champion one day.

although I’m split on Diamond fight. The one thing that I really don’t like about Saint Denis is…. Although he has shown he can recover well after he gets hit, what I don’t like is… that he can get hurt and wobbled BAD on the feet. I believe the play is  Diamond by Dec, because I believe Saint Denis can survive a TKO. Or…. Saint Denis inside distance.

I know that, but people are talking like he's championship level RIGHT NOW... That he's just going to run through Dustin on his way to the top. He's not. He's got a lot of questions. He's just been finishing lower level competition and one decent guy in Frevola. The one time he went to decision he was getting beat down by Zaleski (at 170lbs on short notice). We've never just seen him dominate someone for a full 15 minutes, let alone 25 minutes. We've never seen him go to deep waters and come out on top. Say what you want about Dustin, but he's got heart and a **** load of experience. He'  been in the cage with more dangerous people than BSD and came out on top. What happens if Dustin weathers the storm? BSD is going to get beat up, that's what.

@DevinM34
it‘s a very tough fit to pick, so I don‘t think there‘s right or wrong here because everything is a possibility. I agree with you but I‘d also like to mention with BSD it‘s kinda the same thing like with Khamzat or O‘Malley. They made a big jump in the rankings and competition and before they only won over lower level competition and didn’t get tested inbetween. Then they fought the top of the division and still continued to win (both times close though). It just shows that it‘s possible and you can‘t tell before. BSD never dominated anyone for 15/25 minutes because he never had to, except for his short notice loss. A five round fight definitely favours Dustin especially when it goes to decision and there‘s a huge question mark on BSD but history has proven that it can be done and could be done again.

I think that is Song's only hope, I think at first he'll try and bulldoze his way through Yan's boxing just to realize that Yan packs a punch. I also don't think that Yan is going to turn this into a boxing match, he'll utilize takedowns and control him at one point. However, Yan probably isn't the same, espacially after seeing 3 red boxes from his last win, but hopefully he comes back, hopefully.

that's two examples of it working out, but there's numerous examples of it not. And to your point, O'Malley and Khamzat were better prospects coming up and I thought they'd be champ one day. O'Malley is more technical and patient which translates well to the top. Khamzat was just a killer and was never even in danger before fighting Burns. What happened when they moved up and fought Burns and Yan though? They both went to decision and weren't able to just blow through those guys. If this goes to decision BSD isn't winning.

same. I'm not writing off BSD completely. He's dangerous early, especially on the ground where Poirier has struggled in the past. This whole card is full of bangers

The only question in my mind for that fight is "does it matter that Poirier is closer in age to 40 than 30?". Because 5 years ago I wouldn't even have had a question in picking him. He's got a lot of mileage though. That's what people are wondering about, not his skills or experience that are obviously above BSDs, at least clearly as far as the striking goes.

@gliese58i
definitely a factor that I took into account in my decision. At least statistically the age and in particular the age gap between two fighters is significant. So I think it definitely matters but it doesn‘t determine the outcome. A seven year age gap obviously doesn‘t nullify an advantage in experience or the match up of fighting styles. But it should be taken in consideration

Who is betting on Despaigne at these odds? His career inside of an octagon is shorter than the time it took me to write this post. Also Taekwondo best base for MMA now? What if Parisian doesn't die in the first couple of minutes? What if Parisian goes for a takedown?
We know literally nothing of Despaigne lol. Or maybe we do, in which case please enlighten me.
